Assistant District Attorneys represent the state of Maine in criminal matters. Assistant District Attorneys are employees of the state of Maine through the Office of the Attorney General, but work in a District Attorney’s Office within a prosecutorial district.

Assistant District Attorney - Prosecutorial District III

Androscoggin County

The District Attorney’s Office is seeking a full time Assistant District Attorney.

This Assistant District Attorney will be primarily responsible for criminal prosecutions in the Unified Criminal Court in Androscoggin County, as well as appellate cases before the Law Court.  Candidates should have a strong desire for a career in litigation. Trial experience and developed trial skills a plus. High ethical standards, sound judgment, strong communication and inter-personal skills, and good organizational/time management skills are essential.

Candidates must be members of the Maine Bar and in good standing. Salary and benefits are as established by the wage scale.

York County

The District Attorney’s Office is seeking a part time Assistant District Attorney.

This Assistant District Attorney will be primarily responsible for adult criminal cases and civil violations in the Unified Criminal Court in York County, as well as appellate cases before the Law Court.  This position requires travel and applicants must have reliable means of transportation.

Penobscot and Piscataquis Counties

The District Attorney’s Office is seeking an Assistant District Attorney for Penobscot County with occasional Piscataquis County coverage.  This is an entry level position.

This Assistant District Attorney will be primarily responsible for criminal prosecution of adults in the Unified Criminal Docket. Candidates should have a strong desire for a career in litigation, and good writing skills are essential.  Trial experience and developed trial skills are preferred.  High ethical standards, sound judgment, strong communication and inter-personal skills, and good organizational/time management skills are essential. A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation is required.  This position may require travel to courts in Dover-Foxcroft, Lincoln, and Millinocket.  The successful candidate must be able to work independently.
